Correct weather sttings are critical for safe operations of the observatory. For the current setup, the rain sensor will deliver a HIGH/LOW signal directly to the Shutter controller, meaning it is not dependent on a software driver to run on the observatory control PC.
The Cloud (Pirometer) sensor will utilize PIR (sky temperature) measurements combined with measuremens of ambient temperature to determine cloud coverage.
In both cases the values are evaluated every 5 seconds, and an unsafe condition is triggered after 5 consecutive readings of cloud or rain.
